Lisa

Thank you for taking the time to find out more about my practice. I have been working as a counsellor for 20 years, supporting both youth and adults. For many of those years I worked as a counsellor within the school setting. I am a member in good standing with the B. C. Association of Clinical Counsellors. Arriving at counselling may feel vulnerable and uncertain, my approach to working together is to offer a safe space where we can explore the areas that you identify as needing attention. My goal is to create a collaborative relationship which allows you to discuss the challenges you are facing and to offer support and skills to explore these together. I will do this with curiosity, empathy, compassion, and respect for your process. It is important to me that you feel like our counselling relationship is the right fit for you. Research has shown that multiple factors influence client change in counselling, with 30% of that being the therapeutic relationship. I have skills and experience providing support to clients with concerns about anxiety, low mood, life transitions, parenting, emotional regulation, and feelings of stress and overwhelm. My way of being is strengths-based, client-centered, and trauma-informed. My practice style is informed by these evidence-based therapeutic models and can be adapted to meet your needs: Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Somatic Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (SAFE EMDR) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) Narrative Therapy Response-Based Practice Attachment Theory Mindful Self-Compassion When I am not at work, I love to spend time with family and friends, snuggling with my cat while reading a good book, being outdoors, and watching movies. I am available to provide daytime and evening sessions, both in person or on-line, with adults and youth (aged 12-19). To connect further, please email me at lisaclarabutrcc@gmail.com or book an appointment at https://nurturecounselling.janeapp.com/ I look forward to walking with you as you take this next step.
